What happens in a music therapy session?
What we do.......

-
We explore and play different instruments including small percussion, drums and piano in a variety of ways that support our goals
-
We sing familiar songs to encourage speech development
-
We improvise using different instruments to build on social and communication skills
-
We build self-esteem and increase feelings of wellbeing through success-oriented activities
-
We use and teach emotional regulation techniques using music
-
We encourage interaction with caregivers and siblings to foster positive relationships
-
We write songs together to express our feelings and ideas
-
We do movement activities for sensory-integration
-
We build capacity in parents to use music at home to support their child
-
We have so much fun that it doesn't feel like 'therapy'!
